Working principle of the electricity meter When the electricity meter is connected to the circuit, the magnetic fluxes generated by the voltage coil and the current coil pass through the disc. These magnetic fluxes are out of phase in time and space, and induce eddy currents on the disc respectively. Due to the interaction between the magnetic flux and the eddy current, a rotational torque is generated to make the disc rotate. Due to the braking effect of the magnetic steel, the rotational speed of the disc reaches a uniform motion. Since the magnetic flux is proportional to the voltage and current in the circuit, the disc moves at a rotational speed proportional to the load current under its action. The rotation of the disc is transmitted to the counter through the worm gear. The indication of the counter is the actual electrical energy used in the circuit. 2. Basic principle of the electricity meter The electricity meter uses an electronic circuit/chip to measure electrical energy; the voltage signal is transformed into a small signal that can be used for electronic measurement by using a voltage divider resistor or a voltage transformer, and the current signal is transformed into a small signal that can be used for electronic measurement by using a shunt or a current transformer. A dedicated energy measurement chip performs analog or digital multiplication of the transformed voltage and current signals, accumulates electrical energy, and then outputs a pulse signal proportional to the electrical energy; the pulse signal drives a stepping motor to drive the mechanical counter to display, or is sent to a microcomputer for digital display after processing.
